Hunan Liushahe Flower Pig Ecological Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. (formerly Changsha Shalong Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd.) was founded in 2003. The company shoulders the important task of protecting and developing the "Liushahe Flower Pig" (scientific name "Ningxiang Pig", also known as "Ningxiang Flower Pig"). In accordance with modern enterprise management systems, it is engaged in the protection and comprehensive development of the "Liushahe Flower Pig" breed resources. After years of cultivation, it has now become a "Leading Enterprise in Agricultural Industrialization in Hunan Province" integrating the conservation, breeding, slaughtering, deep processing of meat products, and sales of the "Liushahe Flower Pig". The company's directly affiliated breeding base was awarded the title "Ningxiang Pig Conservation and Breeding Farm" by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China.
The "Liushahe Flower Pig" bred by the company originated in the Liushahe and Caochong areas of Ningxiang County, Hunan Province. After more than a thousand years of long-term evolutionary selection, with its excellent breed characteristics of gentle temperament, early maturity and easy fattening, high reproductive capacity, tolerance to coarse feed and strong stress resistance, as well as its unique flavor of tender meat, delicious taste, rich but not greasy, and sweet and mellow, it has deservedly become one of China's "Four Famous Pigs". In July 2006, it was included in the first batch of the national livestock and poultry genetic resource protection breed list determined by the Ministry of Agriculture, becoming a "national treasure" of China.
