Shanghai Changzheng Hospital is a comprehensive Grade III Level A hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and scientific research. The hospital was formerly 'Baolong Hospital', founded by Dr. German Paulun in 1900, and was renamed 'Affiliated Hospital of National Tongji University' in 1930. In October 1955, by order signed by Marshal Peng Dehuai, then Minister of Defense, 'Shanghai Emergency Surgery Hospital' was established. In September 1958, it was listed as 'Second Affiliated Hospital of Second Military Medical University'. In September 1966, it was approved by Shanghai Municipality to be publicly known as 'Shanghai Changzheng Hospital'. In 2017, it was transferred to the Navy.
Changzheng Hospital is a Grade III Level A hospital with complete disciplines, distinctive medical features, and strong comprehensive strength. It currently has 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 11 national key disciplines, 9 Shanghai key disciplines (institutes), and 4 Shanghai quality control centers.
The hospital has formed advantageous discipline groups represented by war trauma, orthopedics, neurosurgery, nephrology, dermatophytosis, and rheumatology and immunology.
In the past three years, the hospital has won 1 first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 3 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 3 first prizes of Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of Teaching Achievement Award, and 4 first prizes of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award.
