镇平县郭庄乡金鱼养殖经过近10年来的发展，现已遍布全县10个乡镇28个村，开发繁育鲫、龙、龙背、文、蛋五个品系和寿星、龙睛、鹤顶红、狮头、锦鲤等120余个名贵品种，成为全国*大、花色品种*多的金鱼养殖基地。目前，全县养殖水面达5200亩，并以每年500亩的速度激增，年产成品鱼5000万余尾，产品销往北京、上海等27个省市，并转口到日本、香港、东南亚等国家和地区。2003年镇平县郭庄乡被中国特产之乡组委会正式命名为“中国金鱼之乡”。
