Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences

The Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHB) is a comprehensive academic research institution in China dedicated to the study of life processes in inland water bodies, ecological environmental protection, and the utilization of biological resources. Its history can be traced back to the Natural History Museum of the National Central Academy of Sciences in 1930. The institute conducts research in areas such as the structure and function of freshwater ecosystems, aquatic biodiversity and resource conservation, and aquatic organism genetics and development, and hosts multiple key laboratories and research centers. Its research teams have achieved numerous important results in basic research in hydrobiology, conservation and utilization of fishery resources, and ecological restoration of aquatic environments, providing theoretical and technical support for the protection of inland water ecological environments and the sustainable utilization of biological resources in China.
