Shanghai Pudong New Area Gongli Hospital is a public tertiary Grade B general hospital affiliated to the Pudong New Area Health Commission, and a public welfare class II institution. Located in the core area of the inner ring of Pudong, Shanghai, the hospital covers an area of about 60 mu with a building area of 87,000 square meters, 5 kilometers from the Oriental Pearl Tower. It enjoys a superior geographical position and is one of the first 25 regional medical center construction units in Shanghai and the leading unit of the Jinqiao Medical Alliance Party Building Alliance.
Gongli Hospital was founded in 1943, was approved as a Grade 2A general hospital by the Shanghai Health Bureau in 1995, and was promoted to a tertiary Grade B general hospital in 2020. With the strong support of the Pudong New Area People's Government and health administrative departments at all levels, it is currently striving to create a tertiary Grade A hospital. Gongli Hospital is a standardized training base for resident physicians, with 10 training specialties: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergency Medicine, Otorhinolaryngology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Ultrasound Medicine, and General Practice (*training base), and 108 resident physicians are currently in training.
The hospital now has more than 1,620 employees, including 593 clinicians (including 108 standardized training physicians), 650 nursing staff, 197 medical technicians, and 267 personnel with senior professional titles, of whom 81 have full senior titles and 186 have associate senior titles. There are 410 personnel with master's or doctoral degrees, including 82 doctors and 328 masters. The hospital has 1,000 open beds, 41 clinical and technical departments, serving a surrounding population of 830,000. In 2024, the outpatient and emergency visits reached 1.64 million, discharged patients were 43,600, and surgical and procedural operations were 25,000.
Gongli Hospital has strong academic strength, with 5 municipal key specialties, 1 key laboratory of Shanghai Health Commission, 5 peak/characteristic disciplines in Pudong New Area, and 25 key disciplines (specialties) in Pudong New Area. Urology, Neurology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Clinical Pharmacy are Shanghai municipal key specialties, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Gynecology is a clinical advantageous specialty in Shanghai. Gastroenterology and Urology are clinical peak disciplines in Pudong New Area, and Orthopedics, Emergency Medicine, and Otorhinolaryngology are clinical characteristic disciplines in Pudong New Area. Since 2002, the hospital has jointly trained graduate students with Ningxia Medical University, Xuzhou Medical University, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, and other institutions. In 2015, it became a graduate training base of Ningxia Medical University. In 2022, it cooperated with University of Shanghai for Science and Technology to establish the Gongli Medical Technology College, which has 1 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point and 2 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points.
The hospital is a supporting unit of the National Natural Science Foundation projects. In the past five years, it has undertaken 223 scientific research projects at various levels, including the National Natural Science Foundation, and has won 1 second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, 3 third prizes of Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award, 1 third prize of Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Award, and 5 Science and Technology Progress Awards of Pudong New Area.
