医院1926年建院，总体规划一院六区，油房街院区（综合学科）、南津路院区（专科特色）、富源路院区（中医特色）和永兴院区（专科联盟）现有业务用房3万余平方米，开放床位850张，年诊治门急诊病人近40万人次，收治住院病人近3万人次；河东院区和物流港院区正在建设之中，河东院区（高端智能医院）计划2018年底投入使用。
医院现有在职职工700余人，其中专业技术人员650余人，专业技术人员中有高级职称130余人、中级职称200余人,各专业建成较为合理的人才梯队；硕士研究生近60人。
