江川县人民医院坐落于星云湖畔，始建于1941年，经过60多年的建设和发展，已经成为一所集预防、医疗、教学、科研为一体的县级综合性医院，是昆明医学院实习医院，玉溪卫校教学医院。全院占地面积22858m2，总建筑面积16313m2，设有病床300张，现有职工251人，其中高级技术职称24人，中级职称132人，大专以上学历138人，临床医学研究生2人。
医院设有28个专门科室，拥有CT、彩超、黑白B超、1000mA X光机、自动血球计数仪、血气分析仪、震波碎石机、动态血压监测仪、动态心电监测仪、骨科C臂、十二导心电图机、日立全自动生化仪、电子胃镜、膀胱镜、床旁心电监护仪、脑电图、心电图、电脑控制全自动牵引床等多种大型医疗设备，年门诊人次20万人次，住院人次达10000多人次。
