常州市轨道交通2号线一期工程起于常州市主城区西部的城西组团，终于东部颜家。线路全长19.79km，其中地下线长约18.23km，高架段长约1.238km，过渡段长约0.322km；共设15座车站，其中14座地下站，1座高架站，平均站间距1.38km；在线路东部新设丁堰车辆段1座。全线设2座主变电站（丁堰、茶山），1座开闭所， 9座牵混所，7座降压所，5座跟随所。
常州地铁2号线公安通信系统由公安传输系统、计算机网络系统、公安专用电话系统、公安及消防无线通信系统、公安视频会议系统、公安电源及接地系统和公安视频监控系统7个子系统组成。设备主要分布在地铁车站、沿线派出所、常州地铁公安分局、常州市公安局等区域。
