我司前身为衡阳市公共交通总公司，属国有大Ⅱ型企业。2005年7月改制重组为国有控股、多元参股的股份制公司。现有在岗员工2200多人，离退休人员1100多人，经营公交线路47条，拥有各类车辆700多台。经营城市公共交通客运、车辆出租、轮渡客运、汽车维修、燃料及汽车配件销售供应、房地产开发、广告发布、汽车驾驶修理人员培训等业务。公交线网覆盖城市各区，年主业营收过亿元，为我市城市公交客运的主力军。
