邵阳市中西医结合医院建于1980年12月，原名邵阳地区中医院，1994年6月启用现名。2013年12月晋升全国三级甲等中西医结合医院，为政府举办非营利性医疗卫生单位，是湖南省*所集医疗、教学、科研、预防、康复为一体的三级甲等中西医结合医院。
医院占地面积16603平方米，医疗使用面积24960平方米，建有10个病区，编制床位506张，开放床位521张。开设25个临床科室，8个医技科室，25个行政职能科室。另开办了具有独立法人的邵阳市翠园社区医疗卫生服务中心和邵阳市中兴司法鉴定所，2020年1月承接了邵阳市结核病防治医院（二级医院）。医院现有各类人员567人，其高级职称卫生技术人员69人，正高卫生技术人员8人。推拿科为“十二五”国家在建中医重点专科；省重点专科有推拿科、肛肠科、脑病科、骨伤科；中药、检验、肛肠为市级中医质量控制中心。
