医院始建于国民党时期，建国后一直承担着乡镇医院的医疗卫生工作，是一家综合性全科医院。2003年应政府号召，改制为民营医院，性质为：民营非营利性医院，隶属民政局和卫生局。即由民政局核发营业执照，卫生局核发医疗机构执业许可证，仍是以服务大众为前提的非营利性免税单位。
2007至2008年，医院对医疗用房进行了全面改造，新建了综合大楼，并重建了医疗辅助用房及职工食堂、宿舍等。改善了医疗环境和职工的生活环境。
目前医院用于医疗的房屋面积约8000平米，职工生活用房面积约2000，院内绿化完备，目前在省内乡镇医院中硬件和人才方面处于领先地位。
医院现有在职人员67人，床位72张。
