Haolan Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. was established in 2000, with its headquarters in Guangzhou. Guangdong Hengjian Investment Holding Co., Ltd., directly under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Guangdong Province, is the company's largest legal-person shareholder. The company is a backbone enterprise in China's environmental protection industry, a drafting unit of China's environmental protection technical specifications, a supporting unit for national major environmental protection technologies, a national specialized and innovative enterprise in environmental protection equipment, one of the fifty backbone enterprises in strategic emerging industries supported by the Guangdong Provincial Government, and a high-tech enterprise in Guangdong Province. It is a systematic service provider for environmental solutions, integrating environmental consulting, design, research and development, equipment production, engineering general contracting (EPC), project investment (BOT/PPP), and operation management (O&M). Currently, the company holds Class A qualifications for national environmental engineering (water pollution prevention and control engineering) and Guangdong Province soil remediation; Class A qualification for environmental protection professional contracting; Class B qualification for municipal general contracting; special design qualifications for solid waste and atmospheric pollutants at Class B level; and operating qualifications for industrial wastewater, domestic sewage, industrial waste, and domestic waste. The company has independently developed over a hundred core technologies and has won the first prize of the National Environmental Protection Science and Technology Progress Award. It currently operates three major technology research and innovation platforms: the Guangdong Haolan Environmental Water Pollution Control Academician Workstation led by Academician Liu Hongliang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Polluted Site/Soil Pollution Remediation R&D Center of the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Guangdong Province Industrial Park Wastewater Pollution Control and Resource Engineering Technology Research Center. In September 2018, the company was honored with the title "Tribute to Guangdong Environmental Protection Brand Enterprises at the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up." In February 2019, the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, the Zhongshan Municipal People's Government, and Hong Kong Xinhua Group jointly established the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Ecological Environment Protection Joint Innovation Center to establish a regional ecological environment governance system and build an environmental protection industry cluster. Hong Kong Xinhua Group and Haolan Environmental Protection co-founded Xinhua Haolan Company to deeply participate in the environmental governance and construction of the Greater Bay Area.

Currently, the company's main business scope includes three core business segments: water treatment (including water supply, cooling circulating water, sewage, reclaimed water reuse, high-salt wastewater, and zero discharge), solid waste treatment, and ecological environmental protection and restoration (including soil remediation, river channel management, lake and watershed management, and heavy metal pollution remediation).
