The elegantly landscaped garden hospital was established on January 10, 1961, as a hospital specially designated by the Shanghai Municipal Committee to provide special medical services for literary and art workers.
Shanghai Literature and Art Hospital integrates health check-ups, internal medicine, surgery, laryngology, stomatology, and dermatology and cosmetology, and is a comprehensive outpatient department characterized by treatments for throat conditions, traditional Chinese medicine traumatology, and vocal cord massage. It once housed the Shanghai Vocal Cord Medical Research Institute and the Shanghai Skin Cosmetology Medical Research Institute, enjoying a certain reputation nationwide.
