福建联通电气有限公司系原福州开发区联通电工有限公司，前身为福州电线厂的电线电缆生产车间。自1959年2月成立至今，一直从事于生产经营电线、电缆产品。延续前身，联通电工是一家具有50多年专业生产电线、电缆历史的企业，也是一家具有500KV架空导线生产资质的企业。2009年由天利电力集团收购，将工厂地址迁至福建省福州市闽侯经济开发区天利电力工业园，于2011年8月设备安装调试结束开始试生产。2012年9月“南瑞集团”收购其70%股权，联通电工有限公司成功并入南瑞集团大家庭，完成由民营企业向国有企业转变，目前更名为福建联通电气有限公司。
公司的核心业务是：从事各类电线、电缆与架空导线的生产和销售。
