Simeere Pharmaceutical was established on March 28, 1995. To date, 15-year-old Simeere has developed into a comprehensive pharmaceutical group integrating production, R&D, and sales, with 7 modern pharmaceutical manufacturing enterprises certified by GMP, 2 national pharmaceutical marketing enterprises, 1 pharmaceutical research institute, and a new-type pharmaceutical group with nearly 4,000 employees.

In 2005, Hony Capital, under the umbrella of Legend Holdings, invested RMB 210 million, holding 31% of Simeere Pharmaceutical's shares. On April 20, 2007, Simeere Pharmaceutical successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange, raising USD 261 million with the stock code SCR, becoming the first chemical and biological pharmaceutical company from Mainland China to list on the NYSE.

In 2009, Simeere Pharmaceutical achieved sales revenue of RMB 1.85 billion, paid RMB 341 million in national taxes, and realized a net profit of RMB 120 million.

Currently, Simeere Pharmaceutical has a strong product portfolio of more than 45 drugs, focusing on therapeutic areas such as oncology, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and infections. We have 3 branded drugs with annual sales exceeding RMB 70 million or over RMB 100 million. Simeere has successively engaged in equity cooperation with two biopharmaceutical companies, Shanghai Saisai and Jiangsu Yanshen, further advancing into the fields of antibodies and vaccines. More highly competitive branded products are being developed at Simeere.

Simeere Pharmaceutical has an extensive distribution network and a professional marketing team in China, with nearly 2,000 sales personnel and close to 100 strategic partners, 80% of whom hold medical degrees. In China, Simeere has over 1,500 distributors. Our products are marketed to more than 4,000 hospitals and 70,000 pharmacies in China. Each year, Simeere hosts, undertakes, or co-organizes over a thousand academic conferences, produces hundreds of academic materials and paper compilations, enabling tens of thousands of doctors to learn, communicate, and improve better.

In 2004, Simeere Pharmaceutical established the Simeere Pharmaceutical Research Institute, which has several technology platforms for research in chemical and biological drugs. To date, it has applied for or obtained a total of 89 Chinese invention patents and successfully developed and launched 10 first-in-market or exclusive products. In 2003, with approval from the Ministry of Personnel, an enterprise postdoctoral research workstation was established, and 11 postdoctoral researchers have successively joined. In January 2006, Simeere Pharmaceutical and Tsinghua University established the "Innovative Drug Joint Laboratory," and collaborations on new drug R&D are underway with Nanjing University, China Pharmaceutical University, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, US-based Adcentrx Laboratory, US biopharmaceutical company Epitomics, OSI, and others. At the end of 2006, the modern R&D center of Simeere Pharmaceutical Research Institute, covering an area of over 5,000 square meters, was officially put into use. At the end of 2008, construction began on the R&D base in Shanghai International Medical Park. The R&D laboratory layout of Simeere Pharmaceutical in Nanjing, Beijing, and Shanghai has begun to take shape. In October 2009, the second-phase project of Simeere Pharmaceutical Research Institute, with larger scale and more advanced facilities, with a total investment of nearly RMB 300 million, officially broke ground.

Simeere Pharmaceutical's new drug R&D is market-oriented and focuses on innovative drugs with broad market potential or first-in-China branded generics. We concentrate our R&D efforts on therapeutic areas with high morbidity or mortality rates and a need for more effective drugs, such as cancer, stroke, osteoporosis, and infectious diseases. Currently, Simeere has more than 10 projects under research at different stages of development.
