山东日照海事专修学院始建于1998年，是经山东省教育厅批准设立的一所专门从事航海职业教育与培训的院校，接受日照市教育局与日照海事局的双重指导与监管。前身是日照船员培训中心，2003年8月在原日照船员培训中心的基础上成立日照航海技术学校。2009年底，经山东省教育厅批准，在日照航海技术学校的基础上组建成立了山东日照海事专修学院。
山东日照海事专修学院下设日照航海技术学校、日照船员培训中心、日照市扬帆高考补习学校、日照山海中学、日照远洋运输有限公司、日照通航安全研究院、海运世界（北京）文化传媒投资有限公司七大板块。
