2008年7月20日，县委县政府为了促进校际间的均衡发展，推动我县教育不断向更高的水平迈进，做出了整合原叁高中、叁初中、逸夫学校初中部成立利伟实验中学的决策。7月25日，夏雨恩书记冒着酷暑来到利伟实验中学新校址现场办公，提出了树立一流理念、实施一流管理、建设一流队伍、培养一流人才、打造一流学校的五个一流的办学目标。在县委县政府的全力支持下，在教育局的统筹领导下，在学校的具体运作下，短短一个月时间，一个总计投入7600万元，拥有办公楼1栋、教学楼2栋、学生宿舍楼2栋，建筑面积22000平方米的新学校——利伟实验中学正式成立并交付使用。
