光明院建院以来承担了多项国家科技攻关计划、国家科技重大专项、“863”计划、科技部研究院所研究开发专项资金项目、科技部创新基金项目、地方科技计划项目、国家配套科研任务，为国家承担了许多重大项目的配套工作，为我国“两弹一星”、“载人航天”、“探月工程”、“北斗导航”等重大工程作出了重要贡献。
