[Summary] Provides standards-based solutions to clients worldwide
The British Standards Institution (BSI), founded in 1901 and granted a Royal Charter in 1929, became the national standards body and is one of the founding members of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Over the course of a century, BSI has become a globally recognized expert in good practice. BSI has initiated numerous globally adopted management system standards, publishing over 250 standards annually. Its areas of coverage include aerospace, construction, energy, engineering, finance, healthcare, IT, and retail. As an authoritative standards development and certification body, BSI played a pivotal role in establishing the globally trusted and widely recognized ISO series of management standards. Widely used standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and OHSAS 18001 (now converted to ISO 45001:2018) were all transformed from BSI-developed management system BS standards. Currently, BSI has more than 193 branches worldwide, employing over 4,600 staff, with operations spanning 193 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. BSI entered China in 1995, helping to train professional auditors and establish certification systems. BSI has grown rapidly in China and now employs over 300 staff, with its headquarters in Beijing and offices and liaison offices in more than 10 major cities nationwide, providing professional, dedicated, and differentiated services to Chinese clients.
