The FDG Group is headquartered in Hong Kong and has two first-level R&D centers: JianShi New Energy Electric Vehicle Complete Vehicle R&D Center and Shanghai Sinopoly Battery Research Institute, as well as three second-level technical centers: Hangzhou Changjiang Automobile Technology Center, Yunnan Wulong Automobile Technology Center, and Tianjin Sinopoly Battery Technology Center. The group's technical R&D team has more than 1,000 personnel, with a total R&D area exceeding 200,000 square meters. The group owns two advanced lithium power battery production plants: Liaoyuan Sinopoly Battery Plant and Tianjin Sinopoly Battery Plant, and two new energy electric vehicle complete vehicle plants: the core plant of Hangzhou Changjiang Automobile Company and the new plant of Yunnan Wulong Automobile Company. The construction project of the Hangzhou Changjiang Automobile plant, which is designed for an annual production of 100,000 pure electric vehicles, is in full swing. The new plant covers a total area of 1,150 mu and is being constructed in two phases, with high-standard and high-specification production facilities for five internationally advanced processes: stamping, welding, painting, final assembly, and electronic control. The production building area of the first phase is approximately 300,000 square meters. The new plant is scheduled for completion by the end of 2014, and it will become a model enterprise for large-scale production and operation of electric vehicles in China. The group's second new energy electric vehicle complete vehicle plant, the Yunnan Wulong Automobile Plant, currently has a production capacity of 5,000 new energy buses and key components. Yunnan Wulong Automobile will be built into the largest and most technologically advanced and reliable new energy electric vehicle industrialization production base in Yunnan Province and the southwest region, promoting the adoption of new energy electric vehicles in Yunnan and surrounding areas.
JianShi International Automotive Design (Beijing) Co., Ltd. is the new energy electric vehicle complete vehicle R&D center under FDG Electric Vehicle Group. It is a large-scale, professionally equipped automotive design and R&D company for complete vehicles and components. Located in the Beijing International Information Industry Base, an auspicious site in the north of Beijing, the company is recognized as a high-tech enterprise by the Beijing municipal government. The core team members come from renowned international and domestic automotive design, R&D, and complete vehicle manufacturing companies, bringing more than 30 years of automotive design and development experience. The company has a group of experienced automotive design experts and innovative young professional leaders, dedicated to developing new automotive products with independent intellectual property rights for Chinese automotive industry enterprises and contributing to the industrialization promotion of new energy electric vehicles. The company currently has nine departments: the Styling Design Research Institute, the Body Design Research Institute, the Electrical Design Research Institute, the Complete Vehicle Design Research Institute, the Process Engineering Research Institute, the Pilot Plant, the Product Management Center, the Business Control Center, and the General Management Center. The headquarters R&D team comprises more than 300 people, forming a full range of complete vehicle design and development capabilities from target market analysis, product planning, styling design, body, chassis, electrical and electronic control engineering design and validation, prototype trial production and testing, process and tooling planning, supplier system planning, production technology preparation, to production technical support.
The R&D of the FDG Group's new energy electric vehicle series, undertaken by JianShi Design, has been ongoing for more than five years and has already achieved significant breakthroughs: in December 2013, the first round of trial production of pure electric luxury mid-size buses and light and medium commercial vehicles successfully rolled off the line. Currently, two rounds of tooling prototype trials and testing have been completed, especially withstanding the severe cold of minus 30-40 degrees Celsius in the Heihe area of northeast China. The pure electric compact SUV has also completed its product design, with testing and validation planned for completion by the end of 2014; the design data for the new 10-12M pure electric buses has entered the frozen state, and trial production and validation of tooling prototypes will begin in June this year.
