我院主要承担中小型水利工程、河道整治工程、灌溉工程、防洪排涝工程、滩地围垦工程、小型港口工程、防渗堵漏工程和一般工业民用建筑工程等的规划设计任务；承担本院独有的科研成果、新坝型、新防渗技术和新工艺等的技术开发和设计任务。从而使水利工程的新技术、新材料和新工艺得到进一步的迅速应用和推广。
