UBER TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (abbreviated as Uber) is a venture capital-backed startup and transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA. It connects passengers and drivers through a mobile application, providing car rental and real-time ridesharing services. Uber has expanded its services to dozens of cities worldwide. Passengers can request a vehicle by sending a text message or using the mobile app, and can also track the vehicle's location through the app.
Initially, Uber drivers used vehicles such as the Lincoln Town Car, Cadillac Escalade, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S550. After 2012, Uber launched the "UberX" service, adding a wider range of vehicle models.
