CSCEC 8th Bureau

China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CSCEC 8th Bureau") is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, a Fortune 500 enterprise. It was founded in 1952 and has gone through the process of converting from workers to soldiers and then from soldiers back to workers. In 1966, it was reorganized into an engineering construction corps upon the orders of the Central Military Commission and the State Council, and in 1983 it was wholly converted into an enterprise. Its headquarters is now located in Shanghai.

CSCEC 8th Bureau is a special-grade general contracting enterprise for new housing construction projects as certified by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Its main businesses include general contracting of housing construction, infrastructure, industrial installation, investment and development, and engineering design. It has more than 20 branches, and its domestic business covers the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Bohai Rim, Central China, Northwest China, and Southwest China, while its overseas business is mainly in Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. In recent years, its major economic indicators have grown rapidly, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the top of similar construction enterprises in China, making it one of the *most competitive and promising construction enterprises in the country.

CSCEC 8th Bureau has established a post-doctoral scientific research workstation and a provincial-level technology center, accumulating strong technological advantages. It has been rated as an "Advanced Enterprise in Scientific and Technological Progress and Innovation in the National Construction Industry." By the end of 2012, it had won 6 National Science and Technology Progress Awards and 254 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology progress awards; it holds 357 patents (including 57 invention patents); and it has compiled *construction methods 30 items and 357 provincial and ministerial-level construction methods.

CSCEC 8th Bureau currently has more than 20,000 employees, including over 1,700 expert talents such as experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, professor-level senior engineers, inheritors of Luban craftsmanship, and senior professional title holders; and over 1,600 high-end talents such as Chartered Builders, International Outstanding Project Managers, nationally registered first-class constructors, registered structural engineers, registered architects, and national outstanding project managers. The bureau's leadership team was awarded the "Advanced Collective for Building a Four-Good Leadership Team in State-owned Enterprises."

CSCEC 8th Bureau is renowned worldwide for undertaking "high, large, precise, advanced, and innovative" projects, having built a large number of landmark buildings at home and abroad. It is the enterprise that has undertaken the *most projects in China involving airport terminals, convention and exhibition centers, sports venues, medical and health facilities, high-end hotels, cultural tourism, etc. It is known as "an iron army fighting north and south, a pioneer in key construction." It has won multiple *honors such as "National Civilized Unit," "National May Day Labor Award," "National Quality Award," "National Excellent Construction Enterprise," "National User Satisfaction Enterprise," "National Advanced Unit for Enterprise Culture Construction," and "National Model Employee Home."

"Creating quality products and achieving global reputation" is the unremitting pursuit of CSCEC 8th Bureau. By the end of 2012, it had cumulatively won 91 Luban Awards, 76 National Quality Engineering Awards, 10 Zhan Tianyou Civil Engineering Awards, and 1,497 provincial and ministerial-level quality engineering awards; 4 projects were honored as "One Hundred Classic and Quality Projects" for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
