China Architecture Design & Research Group Co., Ltd., formerly known as China Architecture Design & Research Institute, was established in 1952 as a centrally administered design enterprise. In October 2014, it was officially renamed China Architecture Design & Research Group Co., Ltd. In 2000, with the approval of the State Council, the company was formed by merging four entities: the Architectural Design Institute of the Ministry of Construction, China Academy of Building Research, North China Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute, and the Urban Construction Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction, to establish China Architecture Design & Research Group, a large-scale technology-oriented central enterprise managed by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). In 2011, the General Architectural Design Institute was established to implement group-based management. In 2012, the company acquired Singapore's CPG Corporation (a design agency established by the Singapore Public Works Department in 1999, with 2,200 employees), and in the same year became a global partner of Autodesk, thus initiating a strategic international layout. Currently, China Architecture Design & Research Group Co., Ltd. has over 8,000 professionals, including 3 academicians, 7 design masters, 100 experts receiving special government allowances, and over 1,000 national first-class registered professionals.
