Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. is affiliated with China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. It was founded in November 1966 and basically completed and put into production in October 1976. The company has two production bases, A and B. The company headquarters is located in Area A, in Fuling District, Chongqing. It is the largest modern shipbuilding enterprise in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the southwest region. The company is one of the 66 fast-growing enterprises in Chongqing, a Chongqing high-tech enterprise, a Chongqing ship export base, and a key enterprise in Fuling District, Chongqing. The company has obtained product quality approval from China Classification Society (CCS), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Bureau Veritas (BV), Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK), Germanischer Lloyd (GL), Lloyd's Register (LR), and Korean Register (KR). It has obtained GJB9001B-2009 military product quality management system and GB/T19001-2008 civilian product quality management system certification from New Times Quality Certification Company. The steel box girder of the Chongqing Yangtze River Egongyan Bridge manufactured by the company won the Chongqing High-Quality Engineering Structure Award and the Municipal Engineering Golden Cup Award; the 3000-ton stainless steel chemical tanker is a Chongqing high-tech product and won the first prize of Chongqing Excellent New Products in 2005-2006; the Wushan Yangtze River Bridge won the 2007 National Quality Engineering Silver Award. The company won the 2006 Chongqing State-owned Enterprise Contribution Award and was rated as one of Chongqing's "Top Ten Industrial Enterprises Concerned with People's Livelihood" in 2011. In May 2018, the Youth League Branch of the Ship Design Institute of CSIC Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. was rated as the 2017 "National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee (Youth League Branch)".
