China Everbright Environment (Group) Co., Ltd. (Everbright Environment, formerly Everbright International) was founded in Hong Kong in 1993 as the flagship industrial investment company under the Everbright Group. It is listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (:0257). In 2003, it pivoted to the environmental protection sector, and after more than a decade of development, it has become a renowned ecological environment group in China and even across Asia. In 2017, Everbright Environment's revenue exceeded HKD 20 billion; in the first half of 2018, revenue exceeded HKD 11.7 billion, with total investment surpassing HKD 82 billion and over 8,800 employees. Everbright Environmental Energy (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is a flagship industrial investment company under Everbright Environment, specializing in waste treatment and comprehensive utilization of by-products, with a total investment exceeding RMB 5.2 billion. The project consists of Phases I, II, III, and the first stage of the upgrading and renovation project, with a designed daily processing capacity of 5,800 tonnes, an annual incineration of 2 million tonnes of household waste, and 650 million kWh of electricity fed into the grid, making it one of the highest-emission-standard waste-to-energy plants in operation in China. The project employs advanced incineration grates, flue gas purification, leachate treatment, and automated control systems, all independently developed and produced by Everbright. The flue gas purification system adopts an advanced process of "denitrification + (semi-dry + dry) acid removal + activated carbon injection + baghouse dust collector + wet acid removal + flue gas dehumidification," complying with the "Standard for Pollution Control on Municipal Solid Waste Incineration" (18485-2014) and the EU 2010 standards, with flue gas emission indicators comprehensively and stably meeting standards, and dioxin emission concentrations well below 0.13. An independently supporting leachate treatment plant was put into operation in 2010 and completed its upgrading in 2012. On this basis, to support the operation of the Phase III incineration project, the expansion of the leachate treatment project was completed in 2013, achieving a daily processing capacity of 1,900 tonnes of leachate. The project adopts a treatment process of "pretreatment + high-efficiency anaerobic digestion + ultrafiltration + nanofiltration + reverse osmosis," with all treated effluent reused across various water usage points in the incineration plant, achieving the goal of "full reuse, zero discharge." With the continuous advancement of urban-rural integration in Suzhou, the amount of household waste has been increasing, and treatment processes and technical means have been continuously innovated. To fully manage household waste and enhance the city's environmental carrying capacity, in July 2018, Everbright Environment officially signed a supplemental concession agreement for waste treatment services with the Suzhou Municipal Government, confirming the upgrading and renovation project for Suzhou's household waste incineration power plant. The project adopts 750-tonne large-scale incineration grates to increase daily processing capacity; it pioneers the industry's first medium-temperature ultra-high-pressure mother-pipe intermediate reheat unit to further enhance energy efficiency; and in the flue gas treatment process, new purification steps such as "denitrification + wet acid removal + flue gas dehumidification" are added, achieving reductions in both total emissions and concentrations of major flue gas pollutants below international standards. Upon completion, the daily processing capacity will increase to 6,850 tonnes, with an expected annual green power output of 871 million kWh, and flue gas emissions comprehensively superior to the EU 2010 standards. The path of environmental protection is fraught with thorns and difficulties, requiring unity of purpose; the more arduous the challenges, the more determined we must be. We must not only safeguard green mountains and clear waters but also leave a blue sky for the future. We must not only build a beautiful green China but also provide Chinese strength for global environmental governance, jointly building a "community with a shared future for mankind," and forge ahead bravely on the journey of environmental protection.
