LANXESS

LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals supplier, headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany, with total sales of EUR 7.1 billion in 2010. It has 45 production sites in 24 countries worldwide. LANXESS's core business includes the development, production, and sale of plastics, rubber, chemical intermediates, and specialty chemicals.

In 2010, LANXESS came to Changzhou, investing USD 40 million to build the leather chemicals project of LANXESS (Changzhou) Co., Ltd. in Changzhou Binjiang Chemical Industry Park, aiming to create a world-class specialty chemicals production base with advanced production facilities, cutting-edge production technology, and fashionable creative concepts. The project officially started construction in August 2011 and was completed and put into operation as planned in early 2013. After completion, the project focuses on the research, development, production, and sales of leather chemical products, with a designed annual output of 50,000 tons, fully meeting the demand for high-quality leather chemicals in the Asia-Pacific region.

In September 2012, LANXESS broke ground on its EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber plant. With a total investment of USD 296 million, this plant is the largest single investment by LANXESS in China to date. The plant has a designed annual capacity of up to 160,000 tons and is planned to be commissioned in 2015.

The new plant will produce premium-grade EPDM to meet the diverse needs of consumers in the Asian market. LANXESS EPDM will be marketed under the Keltan brand.
