China News Service (abbreviated as "CNS") is one of the two national news agencies in China, established on October 1, 1952. Its predecessor was the International News Agency founded in 1938. CNS has established branches in all 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities on the mainland, and 21 overseas branches in countries and regions including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and China's Hong Kong. The PC website receives an average of 200 million daily visits; the client app has over 60 million downloads; Weibo followers exceed 74 million; WeChat followers are nearly 3 million; and accounts on commercial platforms such as Douyin, Kuaishou, and Toutiao have a combined following of 120 million. On overseas social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, the total followers are nearly 5 million. Chinanews also operates a media matrix including Zhongxin Video, Zhongxin Jingwei, China Overseas Chinese Network, Qiaobao Client, China Chinese Language Education Network, and ChinaNews English.
In the "2019 China Online Media Social Value White Paper", Chinanews ranked first among the "Top Ten Websites with the Greatest Social Attraction in Online Media". Chinanews has also received awards such as the "Top Ten National News Websites", "Leading News Portal", and "Most Influential Portal".
