Shanghai Pinghe Bilingual School

Shanghai Pinghe Bilingual School was established in September 1996. Since 2001, the school has been approved to recruit students across districts and counties throughout the city. In September 2002, the high school division launched the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme with all-English instruction. In May 2003, the school passed the review of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and became a member school of the IBDP. In December 2004, the school was recognized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission as one of the first batch of bilingual schools in Shanghai. In 2007, it was approved as a school qualified to directly recruit international students from abroad. In 2014, it became one of the first 21 schools in Shanghai to offer international curricula at the high school level. In 2018, it became a member school of the Pinghe Education Group. The school respects the laws of student life growth and education itself, prioritizes students' healthy development and comprehensive growth, and fully implements quality education. It emphasizes students' experience and practice in the educational process, strengthens the cultivation of innovative awareness and ability, and forms a school culture of "placid but not mediocre, harmonious yet diverse", cultivating successful learners rooted in excellent traditional Chinese culture and possessing international competitiveness. The management goal of the school's curriculum and teaching is "light burden, high quality", optimizing the management of the teaching process, strengthening quality monitoring and incentive mechanisms, focusing on solid and comprehensive basic knowledge and skills, and striving to improve the effectiveness of classroom teaching. Graduates over the years have performed excellently, especially those from the high school IBDP program, who have been admitted to many world-renowned universities, including Harvard University, Stanford University, Columbia University, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Northwestern University, University of California, Berkeley, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, Paris Fashion Union, University of Cambridge, and University of Oxford. The proportion of students receiving scholarships accounts for more than 40% of the total graduates.
