Yuanshi Seed Hi-Tech Co., Ltd. is an agricultural high-tech enterprise integrating the breeding, propagation, and promotion of hybrid rice seeds, with super hybrid rice as its core. Its registered capital is 50 million yuan. Chairman: Mr. Yuan Ding'an.
With Academician Yuan Longping as its banner and relying on the East China Branch of the China National Hybrid Rice Research and Development Center, Yuanshi Seed continuously breeds new hybrid rice varieties through independent research and development, innovation, and paid introduction, adopting both conventional breeding and molecular breeding methods. It fully leverages and extensively utilizes China's comprehensive advantages in the field of hybrid rice to serve both domestic and international markets. Yuanshi Seed currently has more than 60 professional and technical personnel, over 95% of whom hold bachelor's degrees, including 10 Ph.D. and master's degree holders, and 28 professional and technical personnel with senior and intermediate technical titles. It has under it a Research and Development Department, a Parent Seed Department, a Production Department, a Technology Department, a Warehousing Department, a Processing and Packaging Department, a Quality Inspection Department, a Logistics Department, an International Business Department, a Domestic Market Department, a Finance Department, and a General Affairs Department. Hefei serves as the management center and marketing center of Yuanshi Seed, while Changsha serves as the research and development center and production and processing center.
Yuanshi Seed has established crop parent seed and hybrid seed breeding bases in Guangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hainan, Anhui and other provinces (regions) and municipalities, with a scale of nearly 40,000 mu, ranking among the top 5 in the country. Its main overseas business direction is the Southeast Asian and South Asian countries in the world's major rice-producing regions, currently concentrated in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and other countries. Its hybrid rice varieties have covered Southeast Asian countries as well as some countries and regions in Africa and the Americas. Its export of hybrid rice seeds ranks among the top in the domestic industry, making it a leader in the overseas expansion of China's hybrid rice. In 2008, Academician Yuan Longping established the "East China Branch of the China National Hybrid Rice Research and Development Center" at Yuanshi Seed. In the same year, it obtained the operating rights for the new hybrid rice variety Shenliangyou 5418, marking that Yuanshi Seed had entered a golden period of development and meaning that while developing overseas markets, Yuanshi Seed officially began to enter the domestic market. The main varieties currently operated include: Shenliangyou 5814, C Liangyou 513, C Liangyou 651, Y Liangyou 35, and Shuangliangyou 292; five excellent varieties have entered national and provincial regional trials; and a large number of combinations are still being screened and arranged.
Hybrid rice is a great invention of Chinese scientists represented by Academician Yuan Longping, and has made outstanding contributions to China's grain production. It is increasingly widely accepted and recognized by foreign countries, especially Southeast Asian countries, which have large populations, decreasing arable land year by year, and rely on rice as their staple food but cannot achieve self-sufficiency. Therefore, introducing China's hybrid rice and corresponding technologies is the most effective and economical way to solve the food problem of most Asian countries. Yuanshi Seed adheres to the national strategies of "hybrid rice diplomacy" and "enterprises going global," as well as the business philosophy of "intensively cultivating hybrid rice, turning national treasures into national strength." It is committed to the systematic development of China's hybrid rice in overseas markets, especially the Southeast Asian market. Since 2006, under the leadership and support of government departments such as the Department of International Cooperation and the Exchange Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, each year, according to the different agricultural production conditions and market requirements of various countries, relying on the China National Hybrid Rice Research and Development Center and its East China Branch, and jointly with other domestic breeding experts, it has selected a group of top-level and experienced agronomists to carry out trial planting of new Chinese hybrid rice varieties, technology promotion, and demonstration of approved varieties in cooperation with partner countries (Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, etc.) during the dry and rainy seasons respectively, achieving good results.
