Wuhan Ship Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is a wholly state-owned subsidiary of the 701st Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited and an organic component of the Institute, mainly undertaking the design and research of civil ships and supporting systems. The Company was registered with the Administration for Industry and Commerce in August 1994, with a registered capital of 26 million yuan; it possesses Grade A ship design qualification and has passed ISO9001 quality system certification; since 2009, it has been continuously recognized as a high-tech enterprise in Hubei Province. The Company thoroughly implements the guiding principles of combining military with civilian purposes and building a maritime power. Under the unified leadership of the Institute, it develops in parallel along both military and civilian lines. Ship design and scientific research tackle key problems in a mutually supportive and orderly manner. Its main design scope covers four major sectors: ocean-going fishing vessels, scientific research vessels, official law enforcement vessels, and special-purpose vessels. It undertook the design of China's first fully independently developed Antarctic krill fishing and processing vessel; multiple types of ocean-going trawlers have been designed for long-term fishing operations in Morocco, Mauritania, and other places; the first ocean scientific research vessel of Tsinghua University, "Qingyan Haishi No. 1," filled the gap in China's field of sea trials for deep-sea marine engineering equipment; the 300-ton, 500-ton, 1,000-ton, and 3,000-ton series fishery administration vessels were standardized by the Ministry of Agriculture and widely used in Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Zhejiang, Guangdong, and other places for fishery support and law enforcement management; the country's first electrically propelled inland river comprehensive firefighting vessel with the largest tonnage and most advanced functions provides strong equipment support for the capacity building of the Chongqing Fire and Rescue Corps. The Company has a ship equipment research and development team with a reasonable age structure, complete specialties, and excellent quality. With the development purpose of "inheriting the spirit, pursuing excellent quality" and the management philosophy of being scientific, efficient, and people-oriented, the Company will contribute its due strength to building a maritime power.
