Cabio Bioengineering (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. is a Sino-American joint venture established by Wuhan Xi Wang Bioengineering Co., Ltd. and Cargill Incorporated (USA). Xi Wang Bioengineering is one of the earliest enterprises globally to industrialize and commercialize Arachidonic Acid (ARA), while Cargill, a US-based company, is the world's largest privately held corporation and the largest manufacturer of animal nutrition and agricultural products. After 141 years of operations, Cargill has become a multinational professional company in commodity trading, processing, transportation, and risk management, and has evolved into a global trading, processing, and sales company with business scope covering agricultural products, food, finance, industrial products, and services. Cargill employs approximately 100,000 people in 59 countries and reported total operating revenue of $119.5 billion in fiscal year 2011. Cabio is currently the pioneer and largest manufacturer in China's Arachidonic Acid (ARA) industry, and is the lead drafter of China's national food safety standards GB26401-2011 and GB26400-2011. It is also the first Chinese ARA product to receive approval from the EU Novel Food regulation and the US FDA's "GRAS" designation. Additionally, the company produces and provides Docosahexaenoic Acid from microalgae (hereinafter referred to as "algal oil DHA") and other high-end food ingredients.
