Introduction to the Institute of Agricultural Environmental Safety Testing, Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences
The Institute of Agricultural Environmental Safety Testing, Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (abbreviated as the Agricultural Environmental Testing Institute of Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences) was established in June 2015. It is a Wuhan public welfare first-class institution engaged in research on testing technologies for agricultural environment, agricultural products and food safety, transformation of research achievements, and services for agriculture, rural areas and farmers.
The development goals of the Agricultural Environmental Testing Institute of Wuhan Academy of Agricultural Sciences are: in response to the increasingly severe situation of agricultural environmental pollution and food safety, to establish a series of new rapid detection technologies for pollutants (foodborne pathogenic microorganisms, pesticide and veterinary drug residues, biological toxins, environmental hormones, heavy metals, etc.), develop pollutant detection kits and instruments, build an Internet of Things informatization platform for pollutant traceability, and construct a third-party testing center. The Institute has six laboratories, including a mass spectrometry and chromatography testing laboratory, a lateral flow testing laboratory, an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay testing laboratory, a biosensor laboratory, an instrument research and development laboratory, and an Internet of Things informatization laboratory. It aims to build a high-level research and development team composed of multiple professors and doctoral graduates with sustained innovation capability, gradually establish provincial-level and (*) scientific research platforms, face major national needs and market demands for rapid detection of environmental and food pollutants, form a complete innovative development model of technology development-application research-achievement transformation-industry services, promote the development of the agricultural environment, agricultural products and food safety testing industry, serve agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and safeguard food safety and life and health.
