China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)

China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education. It is a national 'Double First-Class' construction university and a key construction university of the '211 Project' and the '985 Project Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines.' Founded in 1952, the university originated as the Beijing College of Geology, formed during the period of departmental restructuring through the merger of geology departments from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, and Tangshan Railway College. In 1975, it relocated entirely to Wuhan and was renamed Wuhan College of Geology. In 1987, China University of Geosciences was established, operating in both Wuhan and Beijing, with its headquarters in Wuhan.
The university features Earth sciences as its main characteristic, with disciplines covering science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law, education, and arts. Geology and Geological Resources and Geological Engineering are selected as 'Double First-Class' construction disciplines. In terms of faculty, it has gathered a group of experts and scholars with outstanding influence in the field of Earth sciences, including several academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. They not only focus on cultivating students' practical abilities and innovative thinking in teaching, but also have achieved a series of major results in scientific research, playing an important role in geological prospecting, resource exploration, and geological disaster prevention and control. The university has multiple *research platforms and has undertaken numerous *research projects, making important contributions to China's Earth science research and resource exploration and development.
