三道农场创建于1957年，原称国营三道华侨农场，其前身是三道华侨垦殖场和新民华侨垦殖场。建场初期，场职工大部分是来自海外十九个国家和地区的归国华侨。1988年属海南农垦总局管辖。1990年，农场设有作业区4个，共有48个基层单位，其中橡胶生产队22个。全场土地总面积折合8.5万亩，开垦利用4.59万亩，以种植橡胶为主。农场位于五指山南麓的保亭黎族苗族自治县的南端，与热带滨海旅游城市三亚市东北部的甘什岭相连，南至国际热带滨海旅游城市三亚市35公里，北距“翡翠城”五指山市45公里，至保亭县城35公里，东至陵水县城38公里，地理位置十分优越，交通方便，通讯发达。
