China Orient Asset Management Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Orient") is a large state-owned non-bank financial institution jointly initiated by the Ministry of Finance and the National Council for Social Security Fund. The company, formerly known as China Orient Asset Management Corporation, was established in October 1999. Since its inception, China Orient has always adhered to the mission of "preserving state assets, mitigating financial risks, and promoting the reform of state-owned enterprises," treating compliance as its lifeline. It has managed and disposed of over one trillion yuan in various non-performing assets, making positive contributions to the stability of the national financial system. In 2016, with the approval of the State Council, the company was restructured into a joint-stock company.
In 2018, facing a complex and severe external environment, China Orient, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, under the correct leadership of the Party Committee of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, and with the care and support of the Ministry of Finance and shareholder units, comprehensively served the real economy. In line with the economic situation and regulatory requirements, it prioritized the development of its main business of non-performing assets as a top priority for the year, vigorously promoted market-based debt-to-equity swaps, and deeply participated in the rescue of listed companies and entity enterprises in crisis.
As of the end of 2018, the consolidated total assets of China Orient Group exceeded one trillion yuan. The company has established 25 branches and one operating department in major cities across the country, with its business covering asset management, insurance, banking, securities, trust, inclusive finance, credit rating, and overseas business. It owns 12 holding companies, including China United Insurance Group Co., Ltd., Dalian Bank Co., Ltd., Dongxing Securities Co., Ltd., China Orient Asset Management (International) Holding Limited, Bangxin Asset Management Co., Ltd., Shanghai Dongxing Investment Holding Development Co., Ltd., Orient Qianhai Asset Management Co., Ltd., Orient Bangxin Rongtong Holding Co., Ltd., Orient Jincheng International Credit Rating Co., Ltd., Daye Trust Co., Ltd., Orient Bangxin Venture Capital Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Rongda Enterprise Management Co., Ltd., with a total of over 66,000 employees and a service network covering the entire country.
