探矿工艺研究所于1978年成立，地处西南地区的中心城市—成都市，现隶属中国地质调查局，是国家公益性地质调查队伍的组成部分。主要从事地质勘探、石油钻井、岩土工程领域的钻凿技术方法、钻凿工具、仪器仪表等方面的新技术、新材料、新器具的研究开发、产品制造、技术服务和工程施工；从事地质灾害的监测与防治技术的研究；从事环境地质与灾害地质的调查与评价。
