Beijing Sixth Hospital

Beijing Sixth Hospital is a tertiary general hospital located in the core area of the capital, integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, and prevention. It is the regional medical center of Dongcheng District. It is a Class A designated medical institution for basic medical insurance in Beijing; it has established close medical consortium cooperation with 27 departments of Peking Union Medical College Hospital; it is a joint training base for standardized residency training of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and Beijing Sixth Hospital; it is an on-site teaching base of the School of Health Policy and Management, Peking Union Medical College, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences; in 2023, the hospital passed the filing of the National Drug Clinical Trial Institution (GCP).
The hospital was established in 1885, formerly known as Daoji Hospital. The famous obstetrics and gynecology expert Lin Qiaozhi was then a member of the board of directors of Daoji Hospital; Deng Jiadong, former president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and a renowned internal medicine expert, served as the first director of the internal medicine department. In 1952, the hospital was taken over by the Beijing Municipal People's Government and renamed "Beijing Sixth Hospital," which has been used to this day.
Currently, the hospital is a member unit of the Heart Failure Center of the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, a regional center member unit of the Cardiomyopathy Specialty Alliance of the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, a contact unit for the National Health Commission's Surgical Quality and Safety Improvement Action, a member unit of the Chinese Alzheimer's Disease Preclinical Alliance, a Chinese Ultrasonic Medicine Training Base, a member unit of the National Ophthalmology Alliance, a member unit of the Beijing Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, a Beijing Palliative Care Demonstration Center, the Dongcheng District Designated Public Health Emergency Treatment Center, the Dongcheng District Medical Imaging Quality Control and Improvement Center, and the Dongcheng District Blood Transfusion Quality and Control Center.
The hospital has two campuses with 632 approved beds, 35 clinical specialty departments, 15 medical technology departments, and 3 clinical laboratories; 7 Dongcheng District key specialties: cardiovascular medicine, orthopedics, neurology, general surgery, traditional Chinese medicine, medical imaging center, and emergency medicine.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the hospital focuses on building seven major medical centers, including: cardiopulmonary medicine (including chest pain center), hand surgery and spine medicine, gynecological oncology, digestive medicine, neurological medicine, palliative care, and medical imaging diagnosis and quality control. To facilitate patients, the hospital, based on existing disciplines and technologies, has set up 40 specialty clinics and 9 PUMCH expert clinics: gynecological oncology, cardiovascular medicine, rheumatology and immunology, general surgery, urology, hematology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, etc. (continuously updated).
The hospital implements 365-day no-holiday outpatient services and has introduced various convenience measures such as morning, midday, and evening outpatient clinics, daytime surgery, outpatient settlement at the clinic, and one-stop inpatient services.
In recent years, it has been awarded titles such as "National Advanced Collective in the Health System," "Capital Spiritual Civilization Construction Model Unit," "Top Ten Medical Humanistic Brand Hospitals," and "Beijing Age-Friendly Hospital."
