于1995年由上级卫生主管部门核准为县级专科医院。为了满足不断增加的病人需求，医院历经多次扩建，于2003年建成生活用房面积6500平方米、医疗区用房面积25000平方米的现代化、宾馆式、花园式的医院，核定床位248张。2011年被命名为浙江省非物质文化遗产，2013年医院重点科室嵴柱外科被列入“浙江省*批非公立医疗机构临床特色学科建设计划名单”。
