宿迁市宿豫运河湾森林动物园于2013年5月1日建成开园，目前园区占地面积495亩，动物馆舍面积1.5万平方米，是苏北*大规模的动物园。园内主要有勐兽区、灵长区、食草区、爬行区、珍禽区、水禽区等六大动物驯养区和儿童游乐综合项目区。引进了老虎、狮子、狮虎兽、河马、斑马、蓝角马、狒狒、天鹅及蟒蛇等国家和省级重点保护野生动物种类近70多种，数量八百多只。宿迁市宿豫运河湾森林动物园的建成填补了我市没有动物园的空白，为广大市民提供了一个亲近自然、旅游休闲和科普教育的广阔平台。
