平安保险公司成立于1988年3月21日，同年5月27日正式对外营业。公司在国家工商行政管理总局注册，总部设在深圳。1992年6月4日，经国务院批准更名为“中国平安保险公司”, 公司经营区域为全国及设有分支机构的海外地区和城市，可经营一切险种（含各种法定保险）及国际再保险业务。平安是中国首家股份制保险公司，也是中国*家有外资参股的全国性保险公司，目前已形成以保险为主，融证券、信托、投资和海外业务为一体的紧密、高效、多元架构。
