被誉为“齐鲁明珠”的华能莱芜电厂，位于莱芜市境内吊鼓山下、莲花河畔，地处鲁中电网负荷中心，是莱芜乃至鲁中地区重要的电源、热源支撑点。电厂始建于1970年，历经电力体制改革、资产重组、股权变化，2008年12月划归中国华能集团公司。现火电装机容量272万千瓦（2×33万千瓦+2×103万千瓦）、光伏装机4万千瓦（2×2万千瓦），拥有在职职工854人、离退休职工409人。
