公司成立于1997年，负责北仑发电厂二期工程三台600MW燃煤机组的生产经营。北仑发电厂二期工程是国家“九五”重点建设项目，利用世界银行贷款建设，总投资93亿元。发电设备通过国际招标采购，从美国、日本、德国、法国、瑞士、澳大利亚等国家引进，达到二十世纪九十年代国际先进水平。整个工程于1996年6月开工，2000年9月28日全部建成投产。
