To implement the requirements of documents such as the "National Medium- and Long-Term Plan for Science and Technology Development (2006-2020)" and the "Chongqing Innovation-Driven Development Strategy Action Plan Led by Big Data Intelligence," promote the rapid development of intelligent robot technology and industry, and strengthen government-industry-university-research cooperation, in August 2018, after friendly consultations between Chongqing municipal governments at all levels and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement was reached. Chongqing Intelligent Robot Research Institute was jointly established by the Chongqing Science and Technology Commission, Chongqing Economic and Information Commission, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co., Ltd., and was incorporated into Chongqing's robot "one zone, six platforms" development plan.
The institute aims to build an international, advanced new-type intelligent robot research and development institution with distinctive characteristics, integrating "a core key technology research platform for industrial robots, an intelligent production line application service platform, and an open and shared talent training platform" as one, injecting strong momentum into building a leading robot industry cluster in Chongqing.
