海南省现代应急管理研究院是具有独立法人资格的民办非企业科研机构。研究院于2018年3月27日经业务主管单位海南省社会科学界联合会批准成立，2018年5月17日经海南省民政厅注册登记。同时成立专家委员会，首批专家共15名（其中正高级职称8名，副高级职称3名，其它4名），发展至今，各领域专家已经达到80多名，专职员工20名。
主要经营业务范围有应急管理理论与实践研究、公共安全研究、社会安全研究、自然灾害应对研究、应急产业研究、应急体系建设研究、应急预案编制与演练研究、应急管理决策与方法研究、灾害救援研究、企业应急管理研究、专家咨询与评估、突发事件风险评估、应急救援和紧急救助研究、应急装备研究、应急宣教培训及交流活动等。
