The Company was established on March 28, 2008. It is a joint-stock company initiated by China International Travel Service Group Co., Ltd. (CITS Group) through the overall restructuring and listing of its assets related to travel agency and duty-free businesses, jointly with OCT Group, in accordance with the "Reply on the Overall Restructuring and Domestic Listing of China International Travel Service Group Co., Ltd.", the "Reply on Issues Concerning the Management of State-Owned Equity of China International Travel Service Co., Ltd.", and the "Reply on the Establishment of China International Travel Service Co., Ltd." issued by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC).
In June 2020, the company name was changed from "China International Travel Service Co., Ltd." to "China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation Limited", and the English name was changed from "China International Travel Service Corporation Limited" to "China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation Limited".
