Chongqing Municipal Design and Research Institute is a state-owned professional engineering survey and design enterprise affiliated with the municipal urban and rural construction authority of Chongqing. It operates under a management model of 'one team, two nameplates' with the Chongqing Urban Construction Research Center and is one of the seven chair units of the National Survey and Design Industry Association. It has nearly 30 departments, over 500 employees, with engineers and above titles and various registered professionals accounting for 60% of the total staff, and one expert enjoying special government allowances. The institute holds Grade A qualifications in municipal industry (excluding gas and rail transit engineering), Grade A in construction industry (building engineering), Grade A in comprehensive engineering survey, Grade A consulting qualifications for municipal transportation, water supply and drainage, architecture, and highway engineering, Grade A in urban bridge assessment, Class I review of municipal engineering design and construction drawings, Grade B in highway industry (highway) specialty, Grade B in landscape architecture, Grade B in urban and rural planning compilation, as well as qualifications for rail transit safety assessment and building engineering inspection. It has passed the ISO9001 quality management system certification by the China Quality Association Quality Assurance Center. The institute mainly engages in survey and design of municipal engineering projects such as urban roads, bridges, tunnels, highways, and environmental engineering, as well as architectural design, engineering inspection and testing, investment consulting, and traffic engineering research. Over the past 30 years since its establishment, it has undertaken survey and design tasks for more than half of the key urban construction projects in Chongqing's main urban area, completed survey and design for tens of thousands of urban infrastructure and transportation highway construction projects, participated in research and compilation of hundreds of scientific research topics and technical standards, and nearly a hundred projects have received national and municipal awards. It holds a leading position in urban comprehensive transportation research and sponge city construction. It has completed survey and design work for major national and Chongqing projects including Baoshan Jialing River Bridge, Shuangbei Jialing River Bridge, Gaojia Garden Jialing River Bridge second line, Baijusi Yangtze River Bridge, Lhasa Liuwo Bridge in Tibet, Shuinian interchange, Cimushan Tunnel project, Xima Tunnel, Chongqing Liangjiang Riverside Road, Gaojiu Road urban expressway, Guanyin Bridge business district project in Jiangbei District, inner ring widening and renovation project, Light Rail Line 3 Phase I project, Shipingqiao interchange, Chongqing main urban drainage project, Tangjiaqiao sewage treatment plant, and water supply plant for Chongqing University Town. Its survey and design achievements cover Chongqing and provinces including Sichuan, Tibet, Guangdong, Shanghai, Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei, Hunan, etc. The annual contract amount has maintained a growth rate of 30% for 10 consecutive years, and it enjoys a high reputation in the domestic survey and design field.
