It is one of the world's top three automatic transmission manufacturers (Japan's Aisin AW, Japan's JATCO Ltd., and Germany's ZF Friedrichshafen AG). In 2009, its automatic transmissions held a 15.3% global market share, and its car navigation systems held a 15.7% share, jointly ranking first globally. In 2011, Aisin AW Co., Ltd. registered an initial investment of 100 million USD and a total investment of 285 million USD in Wuzhong Economic Development Zone, purchasing 155 mu of industrial land in Wangshan Industrial Park to establish AW (Suzhou) Auto Parts Co., Ltd. for manufacturing various automatic transmissions. The plant was completed and put into use in 2012, and is scheduled to start official production in September 2013. After full operation, it is expected to produce 240,000 automatic transmissions annually, with sales reaching 1.7 billion RMB.
