童涵春堂国药店始创于清朝乾隆四十八年(1783年)的上海童涵春堂国药号,是今日上海的一家百年老店、名店.它从开始时的单开间门面小店,经过童氏几代人的艰苦创业,努力提高产品质量,不断拓展经营业务,加强内部管理,倡守优质服务,二百多年来长盛不衰,被消费者誉为"金字招牌"的购物放心店,跻身于上海国药业四大户之一,并成为同行业的佼佼者. 童涵春堂创始人童善长(1745-1817),又名在元,宁波人,是宁波市郊庄桥镇童朝阳家族的27代世孙,童氏家族,财力雄厚,当时在宁波庄桥流传着所谓:"童姚马泾张,银子好打墙"的说法,而童氏又被列为首富.童善长从小聪明伶俐,长大后继承祖业,仍在庄桥一带经商.然而他并不满足于祖业的现状,他利用祖传资本,外出跑马头来到上海.觅址在小东门外,里咸瓜街上开设恒泰药行,专做中药材的批发生意.他经常去四川等地贩运药材,自采、自运、自销跻身于上海滩的药材买卖,生意日见兴隆.
