Guangzhou Landscape Architecture Planning, Design and Research Institute is one of the first seven Grade-A landscape architecture design institutes confirmed by the Ministry of Construction of China, established in 1987. It is the first and most representative Grade-A landscape architecture design institute in South China, formerly the Design Office of Guangzhou Municipal Gardens Bureau, and is now affiliated with Guangzhou Municipal Construction Group Co., Ltd., a large-scale national backbone enterprise. Guangzhou Construction is a large state-owned enterprise group directly supervised by Guangzhou State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, ranking 261th among China's top 500 enterprises in 2019, and joining the 'hundred-billion club' in the same year, with comprehensive strength ranking first among construction enterprises in Guangdong Province.
Our institute is a vice president unit of the Landscape Architecture and Ecological Environment Association of China Exploration and Design Association, a council member unit of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, a standing council member unit of Guangdong Provincial Engineering Survey and Design Industry Association, and a vice president unit of Guangdong Provincial Landscape Architecture and Ecological Landscape Association. Currently, we have 250 employees, including 192 professional technical research and development personnel, among whom 36 hold senior engineer or above titles, and 20 are registered engineers of various types.
Our institute holds Grade-A qualification for landscape architecture engineering design and Grade-B qualification for construction industry (construction engineering), etc. The engineering business types mainly include landscape and ecological planning and design for urban and rural public spaces and human settlements, such as scenic and tourist areas, urban parks, roads and waterfront spaces, residential areas, rural greening and beautification. Over more than half a century of design practice, our institute has created a large number of modern masterpieces of Lingnan gardens, such as Guangzhou Garden, Huacheng Square, Pearl River Park, Yuexiu Park, Martyrs' Cemetery, Liuhua Lake Park, Haizhu Wetland Park, Shunde Heyuan Garden, Guangzhou Children's Park, etc. By 2019, more than 290 engineering design masterpieces have won various awards from the Ministry of Construction and provincial and municipal authorities (including 62 national awards, 61 provincial awards, and 173 municipal awards).
